Shakira Leads Nominees For MTV Latin Awards

With six nods, Colombian songstress Shakira tops the list of nominees for the fourth annual MTV Video Music Awards Latin America (VMALAs). Shakira is up for artist of the year and best female artist, as well as video of the year for both "No" and "La Tortura" featuring Alejandro Sanz.

Juanes and Miranda! received five nominations each, while Molotov, Reik and Andrea Echeverri took home four. Several non-Latin acts garnered nominations, including Ashlee Simpson, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson, all of whom will vie for best new international artist.

The only one I recognize in the non-int'l categories is Shakira, though.

Woo, Kell's up for 2 Latin VMAs! If she wins, she'll have 4 total (that would be xtremely AWESOME!). If not Kelly, I hope Hilary wins for Best International Pop Artist. Best of luck to Shakira, Foo Fighters, Good Charlotte, and Simple Plan. May the best artists win.
