| Avril to voice animated movie | | Good for Avril, Nice lineup too.
Avril Lavigne is among the stars lending their voices to the new DreamWorks animated movie 'Over the Hedge'.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the cast also includes Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Nick Nolte, William Shatner, Allison Janney, Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara.
The film tells the story of a mischievous racoon called RJ (Willis) and his turtle friend Verne (Shandling) who find suburbia encroaching on their woodland habitat. 'Antz' director Tim Johnson and 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' scriptwriter Karey Kirkpatrick are co-directing the film. |

| I kind of imagine that her part with be extra bland, and she'll end up not adding much to the movie. |

This isnt live action, its an animated film so it would be pretty pointless to hire someone if they didnt have ANYTHING to add to the movie. Every role in an animation has a purpose, otherwise they wouldnt be in the movie in the first place. Like Daniel said, nice way to stay positive.

| I don't find her voice interesting. When I listen to her voice, it doesn't give any sort of emotion or characterization. However, I may be completely off, and she could blend with the role completely. It's my basic presumption. Personally, I find that certain celebrities are hired just for the name and not basing on talent or actually being right for the role, but again, I could be completely wrong. |

There was a long article in Entertainment Weekly about how a lot of voice actors (actors hired only for animated features) are getting put out of work because the film makers want a "big name to draw in", but the celebrity may not actually be suitable for the role.Take Violet in "the Incredibles". Pixar wanted Hillary Duff or Lindsay Lohan for the role, but the director wanted someone RIGHt for the role, and IMO the girl they picked was PERFECT. |
