The thread is about Ashlee. I commented on what I thought about her. Obviously one of the first things I noticed is her name, and I don't care for the spelling. Then other people remarked that she didn't choose it, and I stated that I was aware but still didn't like it

I still wonder what the relevance is in 'seriously' mentioning that you don't like the name of a person, in a thread that is about that person [slash] artist [slash] singer, in a forum like Music Discussion.

I wasn't just randomly throwing out names that I didn't like or something. Since it was about her and that's how she spells her name, I mentioned my opinion on it. No it doesn't effect her music, but it has to do with her, and the thread was about her *shrugs* I don't think that's the first time a thread in MD has drifted a little from the topic of music.

Wait, lets just cut to the chase. You can't tell me what the relevance of that is, because 1. you'd have told me by now, and 2. you're doing a little off-topic bashing instead of applying some constructive criticism regarding said person.

Explanations come with constructive criticism, but you're just simply stating that you don't like her name because you don't like her name. That's like someone coming in saying they don't like her because they don't like her.

I don't know about you, but I find remarks like that offensive. If this was a bash thread, it'd be in the Sewer. It's a do you like her yes/no and why thread. Not a let's name all the things we don't like about her, otherwise known as, bash thread.

Bottom line is that I can see how a fan of this Ashlee person comes in to read stuff, and someone was saying they don't like her face because they don't like her face [slash] don't like her name because they don't like her name, with no substantial material to start a nice discussion with, the fan would have reason to be offended. And when I take a stroll around BSD, I see that you'd be too. Just think about it. Knife cuts both ways.
