if its only us is there a way to compare the worldwide sales.

cause maybe in the us pop fades but in europe its still strong.

and in my opinion only the total sales worldwide realy counts.

i hope that i donīt make a perfect fool out of me with this question.

and the fact that the cd sales declines *hmm* maybe the officials are right that all the people use mp3 and less people buy cdīs.

for me an mp3 is no replacement for an cd and i donīt use them.

cause when you play them on a computer they sound ok, but if you play them on a good or high end HIFI equipment they sound extremly bad the basses are to smooth and the heights are unclear.

but well thats just my opinion.
NO? NO?NO.... AND No! A hq mp3 (160kb/sec stereo or higher) provides the same quality as a cd!
The whole thing is to use a good cd ripper to extract audio tracks from a cd properly! Once done, you can make perfect mp3s!
I have plenty of cds made from mp3s... and on a hq hi-fi system, the sound quality is perfect!
Of course if you got badly done mp3s, low quality (96kb/sec or lower) the sound quality is not good at all.

AND for sure, cd sales decrease because of people copying albums or making their own copies from mp3s!
It's surely true for Britney as she is very popular and makes "commercial pop"
Her album was avaiable on mp3s 2 weeks before its release...

yeah cd sales are in decline in the US...
But stop being so blind...pop is in dicline, even though I absolutely love Britney and everything she does,IT IS OBVIOUS that pop is in dicline.I mean why do you think pop acts such as Britney and NSYNC are trying to change their sound?Just because they want to sound older?

They are trying to change their music style a bit so they dont fade out. When was the last time a pure pop song hit #1 on billboard?

buffyspears:THE BIGGER POP ACTS are less affected by the decline in pop, because they have a fanbase large enough to support them THROUGH the pop decline,so they probably will survive (as in NOT disappear) from the music scene.O-town will probably disappear, and so will Jessica and Mandy, and whatever became of Dream?

Oh and compare sales of Britney's sales with OOPS sales...Is it just because of an overall cd sales decline in the US?I don't think so.
"Britney"is doing great but not as well as oops did,and it won't sell more than oops did.Even though I wish it would.

Pop in the decline? Maybe.
Alas all this crap of RNB is everywhere, like a virus it begins to attack all the other styles.
Singers like Wycleff exploit classics like Pink Floyd's Wish you were here and slaughter the song...
Eminem invites miss Dido and suddenly she gets popular...
It sounds like only rnb/rap artists can now be succesful.

Rock is coming back a bit but its again tainted of rap or rnb (Linking Park include rap in a rock tune... awful!)
Nothing is pure anymore...

Britney still make pure pop... so I hope she will still be succesful.
Sooner or later rnb will be out of fashion!
But for now, new rnb acts keep pouring out like water on a waterfall... impossible to stop them. As they always fade out very fast, we're relieved of their crap quite soon but others come then.

I miss the 80's! The 90's have been really poor in new talents... apart from Britney and some other good ones... we've seen the reign of boysbands that are now loosing ground. Alas the 90's have been the rnb years... + rap years.

But there's still hope... talented singers like S Twain or Faith Hill make good country/pop. The new generation of country girls make a new country really tainted of pop and it seems to work.
As some "dinosaurs" like U2, Sting, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, The Rolling Stones and some other GREAT bands still release albums, we can still get REAL music.
