You guys didn't take into consideration that sales of "Britney" went up because of the holiday season. "Oops" was selling those amounts in June without the help of higher holiday sales. After it had been out 30 weeks, it still managed to sell nearly 500,000 (vs. 423,000) copies in the week before Christmas. Seeing as though "Britney" is charting high just tells us that CD sales are in decline.

Yeah, I was waiting for someone in this thread to say that.

Yes you can take away how many sales you want but "Britney" is NOT selling as good as "Oops I did it Again". If you can take the 1st and 2nd weeks away why not take all the weeks out and leave only week 7, now we can conclude that Britney is selling better than Oops I did it again, yay

I think your remark about pop being in decline is slightly inaccurate...to be quite honestly I am getting a bit pissed off about this, because I have read many news articles about 'pop' music being on the way out.

Everbody seems to forget that 'Britney' is still in the top 5 and thus maintaining a higher position and selling more albums than other rock, country, soul, rnb and rap albums.

I think coolguy16 got it spot on with his remark about there being a general decline in all cd music sales...

and what's this about Britney will survive?...she doesn't have a terminal illness.

She may not be doing as well as OIDIA but she is doing a hell of a lot better than a lot of other music genres!

I was surprise that she only sold 700,000 + wit this cd, while OIDIA was almost twice as that. I dont know how good that can be.
