| ???Britney Live??? | | Hey
First, don’t get all mad at me. I left a post that asked if there is a program out
there that makes songs acapella and then dumb-ass people leave posts saying “why
do you want that” & “that’s stupid” I didn’t ask your opinions!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anywayz........ as I was saying don’t leave posts where all you have to say is disses.
State your opinion!
Back to my post,
I am doubting if Britney can sing live now. I mean I know she can sing live. Look @
her performances on SNL. Oops! & DLMBTLTK never sounded better! I really don’t
care if she is all huffy and puffy when she sings live. I think it shows more in her
character if she attempts to sing live.
However, I look at Britney as a performer NOT a singer. Although her voice is
good, it is not the best. [PS DOWNLOAD “I Run Away” & “Before The Goodbye” ~
Her voice sounds SO good]
I was watching tapes of her 2000 Oops performances of Baby One More Time. I
saw the Music Mania [I think that show was her Orlando, not sure though] and her
Theres no place like home. In both performances her voice is cracky and sounds
horrible. I have also heard her performance in Arizona. Then I look at her
performance on the Today Show. GROSS! Both “BOMT” & “Lucky” sound horrible.
Even if you are a big Britney fan. You have to admit that her voice is too cracky.
Anywayz back to BOMT. I can understand the Today show, cuz it was in the
morning and Britney has said she isn’t a morning person, but to have three other
performances that sound the exact same except for some random “woooooo”s . I
think she used her performance of BOMT and lip-synched the rest, I don’t know.
Don’t get mad at me, but it just doesn’t make sense.
And what was the deal with her performance of FOX FAMILY: PLAYBACK???
Lip-sync a slow song??? Britney.................
We all know that she lip-synched most of her HBO concert. If you disagree,
well.......... She probably sang “Not A Girl” “DLMBTLTK” “PART of Anticipating.”
And we all know that Britney cannot sing “I’m A Slave 4 U” live. Her “singing” of it
on the Billboards was horrible. It didn’t even have that whip part at the end.
However, it “looked” cool. Then on the HBO concert, she totally missed the
beginning at “Just listen”
I look at her performance on SNL and wonder why she cant just sing live all the
time. Her voice sounds so true.
People will say I’m too critical, but I stated before that I look at Britney as a
performer not a singer. Her performances rocked, but her lip-synching sucked.

| In regards to your rather long post, I will comment on each section.
I didn't think it was stupid of you to ask if there is a program that makes a song accapella. Many people just thought it would be dumb to want to do that.
Most Britney fans will agree that Britney can sing very well live, but she lip-synchs most of her performances so she will sound good.
Obviously Britney doesn't have the greatest voice out there, it is very good and many fans appreciate its beauty.
I enjoyed Britney's performances on the Today Show and the other specials you mentioned. These were performances that she actually sang, but I am such a big fan that I didn't notice it being cracky at all.
About Fox Family's Playback, I don't know why she lip-synched "Not a Girl." There are many possible reasons that she lip-synched it, but if you notice her other performances of that song, they're not lip-synched.
She obviously lip-synched most of the HBO concert since so many people would be watching. It seems to me that her voice was evident over the backing song during "Crazy" and "Oops." To me, it seems that she lip-synched "Not a Girl," but sang "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know." She was singing during part of "Anticipating" because the backing track kept coming in and out as noticed during other songs.
To my knowledge, only one performance of "Slave" has her singing live during part of it. She lip-synchs this song because of the intense dancing, but on the David Letterman show her voice was very apparent over the backing track. She lip-synched the Billboard performance, so I don't know how you can say that her voice was horrible there. The whip part wasn't in that performance because it didn't take on the "jungle" theme like other performances of that song. At the HBO concert, the "just listen" was one of those times when the backing track went out. '
Her performance on SNL was very good and she did do her very best for it most likely just because it is SNL. She doesn't sing live like that all the time because she doesn't want her voice to sound bad and breathy, in my opinion.
If you're a Britney fan, you're being too critical because you wouldn't care if she lip-synchs or not. To me, her performances always rock just because of her ability and stage presence.

| First of all, thank you coolguy16 for responding to my posts.
Next, I do not know who wrote/produced I Run Away, , but I love that song.
Now,
On her voice: I think her voice is okay. Her sound is backed-up by her backup singers. The only songs on Britney thta features just Britney is Slave & Boys and well.... they are okay.
On the HBO Concert: Thinking about it, You are right, Britney probably lip-synced Not A Girl. Which, in my opinion, sucks, sinceit is a slow song with no "actio" in it.
On "Slave": I didn't get to see the David Letterman performance. I am going to try and download it tonight, thank you for the info on it. In reference to what you said "She lip-synched the Billboard performance, so I don't know how you can say that her voice was horrible there", I put """ around "singing" because I knew she was lip-synching to it. I guess I should have put "lip-syncing" on it, (she was so off on it - great location though). In reference to what you said ". The whip part wasn't in that performance because it didn't take on the "jungle" theme like other performances of that song" If you recall, The whip part was included in both "TBL" and "The Rosie Show" (which she lip-synced to) and they did not have jungle themes.
On SNL: I realize this is your opinion, so I'm goign to state mine. In reference to what you said: "She doesn't sing live like that all the time because she doesn't want her voice to sound bad and breathy, in my opinion." Don't you think it makes Britney look better if she was singing live, instead of lip-syncing??? (my opinion)
On Final Comment: In reference to "If you're a Britney fan, you're being too critical because you wouldn't care if she lip-synchs or not. To me, her performances always rock just because of her ability and stage presence." I AM a Britney fan. Don't doubt me because Britney can't sing live. This post just expressed my thoughts saying when Britney sings live it builds the performance up. I believe I said "Her performances rocked, but her lip-synching sucked."
Once again, thank you coolguy16 for responding!

| First, you're welcome for my response to your posts. I always hate when people don't respond to my posts, so I try to respond to as many as I can.
I am researching who wrote & produced "I Run Away" because it is a great song and Britney should work with that writer & producer again!
"Not a Girl" being lip-synched on the HBO concert did suck, but like I said I'm sure she only lip-synched it because she wanted it to sound good. It would be better if there was some action or movement during the song though.
On "Slave," I apologize for not understanding what you meant about the Billboard performance. That is my favorite performance of Slave because of its location despite the fact that it was lip-synched. It probably wouldn't have sounded very good if it were lip-synched though because the fountains are quite loud if you're there, and Britney wouldn't have been able to be heard that well. If you understand what I mean when I say that. On the whip, I considered her performance of "Slave" on Total Britney Live to have a "jungle" theme because at the beginning you can hear the rainfall, etc. I don't understand the whole whip thing and why it was used on Rosie, but I concluded that it was part of the "jungle" theme since the whip isn't in the song on the album. So, I'm not sure about the whole whip thing now...
On SNL, I do think her singing live is better than just her lip-synching. If she does appear on SNL in February, she will definitely sing live! If singers lip-synch on SNL, they get a lot of flac for it. That's why she sang so well when she first appeared on SNL.
We're all entitled to our opinions about Britney, and I'm sorry about my first comment it just seemed that you were too critical to be a Britney fan. I totally understand where you were going with the post, and yes her performances always rock!

But this post, i think, was quite uncalled for. First of all, ALOT of us give a fuck about this. Second of all, this is a DISCUSSION FORUM. We are entitled to DISCUSS anything we would like. And as you said "she's gonna do what she's gonna do..." well, if we want to discuss what "she's gonna do" then we are going to post about it and THAT'S THAT. If YOU don't like it, then don't read the posts. |

| Hm... it's my turn now...
I must admit I never beleived she lip-synched until recently when I noticed that her voice was too regular and that she was not taking in air while singing.
Now why? Simple: dance routines, choreographies are really breath-consuming... so she couldn't dance and still sing in a superb way.
In her orck in rio... she sang everything live... but was constantly out of breath. I also heard (and it is true) that she used to inhale pure oxygen on bottles when she sang live + dance, she could not breathe enough.
So, I think that for health reasons, Britney can't sing live so much.
She's tremendous performer and as it, she pre-tapes vocals to her live songs i na way to have them sound live, and then she lip-syncs parts of her songs while still singing a bit.
She has been harshly criticized for that but... it's her choice.
She wanna dance, so she sings less live.
But the way she acts onstage, lip-synching included is sthing that sounds natural, ok for me.
Maybe she'll maange to sing live and dance at the same time on upcoming concerts but then she will reduce her "activity" onstage.
BUT do we want that??? |

| YEah. Hey, I know an inside fact, SHE DIDNT LIPSYNC HBO. I talked to Jeff who was there, and he said that what they heard was LIVE and he didnt even see the HBO special till recently. He said "Thats NOT what we heard there, it was live" and I thought to myself......you know when she sings Not A Girl, you CAN hear her singing it, but HBO was running a loop of concert audio over what she was doing. I was kinda pissed that the concert crowd got all of the live stuff......accept Baby One More Time, and when u can hear her singing with the track. |
