When You Get Married, Will U Take His/Her Name Or Keep Yours? - Eternal Allegiance

I mean, its a bit old fashioned. I think its stupid for a woman to take a mands name. My name is Kimberley COX. I dont want to give up that name. When i marry, i dont want it to be Kimberley EVANS or Kimberley WILSHIRE or something. I want it to be COX, like it is now, and always has been. My future husband will either take my name or keep his and we have different names. Simple as that.

What are ur views? Would u kepp ur name or take his/hers?

Oh keep mine definitely... my name is part of who i am and it means so much to me that i don't wanna change it... i might go double-barrelled if the guy has a nice surname - like my current squeezes surname goes quite good as a double-barrelled name - but noway i'm dropping my surname

I am taking his name.

I really don't have a problem with that, my identity is more than my name. I don't think that it makes you less of a person if you don't keep your maiden name.

Well our culture here in Iceland is diffirent... We don´t change our names when we get married.. both males and females... we have a diffirent system.. and we don´t have a family name like in USA.... The children usually take the fathers name for last name.. Like my father name is Jón Arnarson ... so My name is Hallgeir Jónsson... and my Brother is Óli Örn Jónsson.... My sister is Hallgerður Jónsdóttir

My mothers name is Ellý Helga Gunnarsdóttir.. because her fathers first name is Gunnar

and I don´t think I will marry someone

well anyway I´m gonna keep my name until I die

Hell, I am certainly getting rid of mine--my last name came from my father who has done nothing for me my whole life. I wouldn't want to pass the name to my kids.

i totally agree! as much as i love my last name, if i get married, i'll most likely take his.. unless it's schitz or something lol.
