Well my surnames Fennell-like the herb but spelt with 2 L's not one, and I don't think anything could be much worse than Fennell! It's an Irish surname-(just thought I'd tell yer!)

Ermmm you mean hyphenate them and you both have that name? Interesting idea...

The only problem with hyphenating is then what if your kid marries someone with a hyphenated name? If they get married their name is like 4 names long!

My Aunt and Uncle had an interesting idea - they both kept their own names, then gave their kid a totally different surname (it was one of their grandparents names) - would get bloody confuzzling though...
