Hmmm yeah up in Darwin it rains a lot! Probably a bit hotter up there too.

Darwin = a reasonable sized city out in the middle of nowhere. Enjoy!

Well I don't actually live in Darwin so don't let that be a guarantee, but from what I know it rains a lot there. Pretty much non-stop during the summer apparently.

Hmmm holiday... depends what you want to do. If you want to see the 'outback' near Darwin is a good place to start - go on tours through Kakadu national park for the crocodiles, aboriginal culture etc. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is probably worth a visit too - it's kinda near Darwin, but still a plane flight or long drive away.

If you want the beach I'd recommend the Gold Coast which is about 100km south of Brisbane and one of the best beaches in the world. Big tourist area and plenty of shops too.

If you want the big city go for Sydney and check out the opera house/harbour bridge and the whole harbour district in general is just awesome. Lots of shops there as well.
