Default What is a sin for me is not a sin for you and vica-versa

This thread is to perhaps clear up questions some may have had regarding sins in the Christian religion.

Strange as it may seem, it is entirely possible for one thing to be a sin if one person does it yet not a sin if another person does it. Seem hypocritical? It's not.

Sins are actually role-based. Whatever your life-role is defines what are or are not sins for you. Of course, there are some universal sins which would be a sin for anyone but, without even going there, allow me to demonstrate some perfectly good examples to clarify my position.

Case 1: Suppose a man is married to a woman. It is not a sin for that man to have sex with that woman yet it IS a sin for some other man to have sex with that woman, though it is the same act.

Case 2: In Biblical times, it would have been a sin for any but the high priest to enter the holy of holies, and it would even have been a sin for the high priest unless he followed certain exact guidelines. Two different people, a sin for one and not a sin for the other.

Case 3: It is a sin for a Nazirite who is still under vow to cut his hair or to drink anything made from grapes or to eat grapes. For any other person, this is not a sin.

Case 4: It is not a sin for God to do anything. There are many things that God does that, if people did them, it would indeed be a sin. For example, it is not a sin for God to kill someone yet it is a sin for a person to kill someone.

Case 5: It is not a sin for a person to use his own belongings without receiving permission from anyone, provided he is not using them for bad purposes. It IS a sin for anyone else to use that man's belongings without receiving permission from anyone.

Case 6: It was not a sin for early humans to marry their brothers or sisters. It is a sin for modern humans to marry their brothers or sisters.

I hope that this will now be crystal clear that God never changes and His rules never change. They stay the same. However, they ARE role-based. If you fit a certain role, you have different rules than someone who fits a different role. You cannot always choose your role but you are still bound to the rules applicable to that particular role. This may clear up some confusion regarding Christianity and what is or is not a sin.

Some things are universally a sin regardless of role. An example would be willingly and knowingly siding and joining with satan to further his causes. That would be a sin for any person or being in any role.

I can't sin since I have no religion and whatnot. Sin doesn't exist in my vocabulary.

Well, you still sin. You just might not be aware of it is all.

Besides, if you've ever done anything that you know is bad, that's a given that that's a sin right there.

Well you seem as you belive your an expert so its weird that you dont know this, but i guess you have to be religios or a christian to know it.

anyway.

All sin's can be forgiven if you belive in jesus as jesus died for our sins, so we will no longer be sinners.

so all the sins we do will be forgiven if we belive in our hearths what jesus did and we ask for forgivness then we will get it.

Now that is an important thing when it comes to this sin thread.
