If any one knows what program plays ".m2v" files and what program you could record webcam video please let me know.

Really? I have WMP 7.1 with all the codecs and it still won't play. I d/l Elecard Mpeg 2 Player and they all work fine. And you can make vidcaps with this player(Elecard) too.

Otherwise... for the .m2v part, you could try downloading the PowerDVD player (latest version: PowerDVD XP 4.0).

A demo of the PowerDVD player can be downloaded here (a 5.3mb download) -- and then there are other ways of getting the full version...
