| What is the final age you should have a baby at? | | I have been reading an article about this Romanian woman who has become the oldest mother, she is 67, I find this disgusting and totally wrong. She is way too old, By the time her baby could go to school, she could be dead. A bit dramatic but realistically, she wont have that long with her child or at least be active with the child.
What I want to know is how old do you think is the limit for having a baby? Romanian woman becomes a mother article! |

| 35. Absolutely. Above that age the chances of getting an unhealthy is SO much higher. I wouldnt be selfish and bring a baby into this world, knowing there is a high chance of complications, just because I want one. |

| I definitely think there should be some limit, for practical reasons, however life might get in the way of things and mess up your plans. Sometimes I feel like the whole thing is like a window of oppertunity with a time limit attached. If you miss the train, you're out of luck. I think essentially that is what it boils down to. |

| I think the last age should be whenever you cannot have a baby naturally (although this wouldn't apply for women with infertility problems who need shots and things at a younger age because they have problems). I think there is a reason your body quits making eggs...its unhealthy for yourself and a child.
35...that is way to young a cut off IMO. Plenty of perfectly healthy babies are born to women over 35, its just harder to concieve because your eggs are down to a low number. But 60's? Nooooo. Why would you want to go through that in your sixties? I want to enjoy my grandkids by then, but be able to ship them back. |

| I used to work in a maternity hospital and was astonished about the age of some of the women attending the IVF clinics. I think there should be a cut off age, its not fair on the child I believe. |

| Its also harder on the woman, they are more likely to have complications arise during the pregnancy/child birth. But people are having kids later and later cause they want to get their career off the ground. While I can understand the reasoning, there is no time when you're going to be FULLY prepared to have a child. And by the time you think you are you could be unable to conceive. *thinking of Charlotte on Sex and the City* |

| I don't know? 50 maybe? 55? If a person wants to conceive later than that, that should ALWAYS be allowed. It also isn't fair to tell people they can't have babies because they are too old (if their biological systems are still capable of producing children which, they are if a pregnancy occurs. ) |

How can that be right? She should be a grandmother not a mother. |

| Chances to have a baby with Down Syndrom:
Age 20: 1 on every 1500 babies born
Age 36: 1 on 300
Age 40: 1 on 100
Thats enough said for me. |
