| Well this sucks | | My mom, dad and brother all decided to turn cable off. They (especially my mom) is sick and tired of all the stuff that's on TV. (like sex/swear words in almost sentence, ect..)
A few years ago we turned cable off, and then last year or so we turned cable back on, but now that there's so much shit on tv these days, we are turning it off.
I'm even sick of seeing the things on TV. First they were letting shows have people have sex in like almost every episode. Now they are even letting swears in it. (not just ass and Bitch and damn, they are letting the word shit in shows.
Why can't we just have shows be like they used to? I miss that.
Also, I got a question. What is DSL like? Is it like simliar to Cable? Or does it hook up to the phone? Because My mom said we might get that. |

| DSL is an internet connection. With it you're always connected and it goes A LOT faster than your standard dial-up.
As for turning the cable off...I'm so sorry! I love my DishNetwork and I know I would DIE if I got it taken away. Yeah, there are a lot "bad" things on, but you don't have to watch them. I'm 20 and my favorite channels are Disney and Nickeloden still. *lol* With the ocassional MTV and VH1 fix. |

| thats disastarous. but u will get used to it, even though it seems unthinkable. U'll actually start feeling more liberated as time goes on, and the TV is not ruling your life. I have a couple of friends who don't even have a TV. They've got other activites, and don't even care! |

| No TV isn't a bad thing. I don't have any cable at all. Not even any sort of peasant vision. It doesn't really even bother me, either. There's really only two shows that I ever watch, and those always eventaully make it to DVD. And if I want anything Britney, well, thats what Kazaa is for. |

| hmm... I never got the thing with banning Tv because of swearing and sex... I think everyone uses the words ass, bitch, fuck, shit and I'm pretty positive everyone knows about sex! I'm not saying young kids should be allowed to watch sex at all... I'm very much against that!
I think it's very different from country to country! Here in Denmark we don't have that BEEP sound... EVER - people can say anything they want, because it's not looked at in a bad way... it's a language that everyone uses... and we don't think sex is a tabu, so we can see that aswell....
I think it's up to the individual parents to teach their kids not to swear and stuff and that just because it's on TV doesn't mean it's the right thing to do!
I don't know....
*okay I'm off topic....*
Anyways - I know someone who doesn't have a TV, I couldn't live without my TV, not that I use it a lot, but still.. sometimes there's nothing better than just to kick back and relax infront of the telly...
Anyways, you'll live without cable don't worry... it's hard at first, but you get used to it... and if not, have your friends tape it for you! |
