Question Upgrade To Windows XP Question

Would you recommend it? Would there be any complications? I'm currently using Windows 2000. I heard that upgrading to XP isn't all that wise. Installing it on a new drive is a different story, however.

It conflicts with alot of programs. When my mom got it, she had to download all new drivers just to ust alot of her programs. Whenever I try to work on her computer, it drives me crazy.

Yes, I must agree. I just saw how it looked tonight! Which is what brought me to ask the question. It took me a while to get used to the slightly different interface, though.

go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/default.mspx and run the compatibiliy program, it will tell you if programs will be affected

and to have it run perfect it's best to do a clean install, meaning you have to delete your entire hard drive and then install windows XP, not upgrading

Ick, i think XP is horrible. I haven't heard anything good about it. My friend has it on her laptop, and now we can't even get her computer to connect to the internet anymore...

Being the WinXP whore I am, I think it's a most excellent OS...
dunno about upgrading from a previous OS... havn't tried that,
I've always done a format C when reinstalling...

...havn't had any program incompatibilities ( nasty word!) so
far, at least none which couldn't be easily solved.

And fortunately it's possible to get rid of the WinXP ''plastic
look'' very easy... I found it cool and stuff when I just got
WinXP... now I hate it... and use a Windows Classic scheme.

WinXP ownz me... .

I love WinXP, been using it since beginning of the year and it's great but there are a few compatibilty issues that have annoyed me, but the good far outweighs the bad.

i still use the XP scheme, unlike you britneyspearsdk. i don't have any icons, except recycle bin on my desktop either.
