Hi,

Me and SlaveforBritny talked over ICQ the other day, and it made me think of a new discussion we could have....

Here in Denmark we have a Queen, but in Austria were SlaveforBritney is from they have a president, so my little question comes now... what do you have in your country.... would you like that to change?? Or do you like it the way it is and why???

I love our Queen and I don't want anything to change.... the royal family is very popular and they're sooo cool and down to earth... I mean they go out the same places as I do.... they're really really nice people and I wouldn't want a president.....

There's no way I'll ever live in a country where some figurehead royal family will look down on me, one of their "subjects", telling me what to do or how to act with their "divine right". If I can't be part of this royal family (and I don't mean marrying in) then it is an unegalitarian institution, and one that I wish to have no part of.

I'll take an elected president/prime minister/executive etc. over royal crapizzet any day. At least an elected officer is in there to do the job because he or she wants to (and has earned it), not like a royal family in which you are born into it whether you like it or not.

I will never want a king/queen to rule over my life.They believe they have the divine power to control everything you do.They say they got their power from god himself so they believe they are higher then normal people and they run everything.At least our president lets us choose who we become.

hey u really started a poll cuz of our talk...thats such a great idea and i have alredady told u what i think but here is mmy opinion again

i love our president and i dont want a queen or king in our country. in austria we have always had a king or emperor in the past and it was always horrible ( there are just 3 exceptions or so)
they always looked down on the ppl and just thought about themselves, caused a lot of wars and many dead ppl. i dont wanna have a king or whatever in our country again

its just cuz i dont know anything i could sayy about the 20 or 30 kings and queen that lived in my country so i dont think now having a king agaion wouldnt make it much better although many things have things since these days

well our queen doesn't exactly have that much power in britian anyway its mostly ruled by our prime minister and his goverment

the queen is there really as a means of tourism and british pride i guess

i for one am not that bothered about the royals and it would be better if we didn't have them cos i dont think they deserve to just be rich cos they are 'royal' we'd get more tourism without them anyway cos people only come to see buckingham palace and if the royals went they could open all of it up instead

I guess you know what I'm going to say...

But, seriously... I would want a king or a queen (or an emperor or empress, for that matter

) instead of a president as our head of both government and of state. If Spain hadn't colonized the Philippines, we probably would have been a very powerful Muslim kingdom.

hmmm...there is nobody who voted that he loves his queen or whatever...why should soebody want a queen instead of a president tho???

You guys get it all wrong, a king or queen have no power at all.... they don't look down at you..... we have a priminister which makes most disisions and he was ellected (although I would have voted for someone else)

When you guys think of a King or a Queen you think about the old times - for like 1000 years ago, where you had to give everything to the King or Queen and where they told you what to eat, what to wear - it's not like that!

There is a big different bewteen different Kings and Queens - take the British one and the danish one....

The British queen is as far as I know, not very much like any other normal person - she wouldn't go shop normal places.... the danish queen and the royal danish family - shops the same places I do.... they walk around with their dogs... and are just like any other normal family and yes they're rich - very very rich.... but the danish queen works about 300 days a year, and that is like 24/7..... I'm not saying they have to own 20 houses that big, but still.....

I think theres something special when you have a queen - when you have a president, then he is the leader - and he sets the rules and everything... with a queen or a king - there is alot of people who sets the rules and stuff!
