Question Please edit...

This is a sequel to the short story "The Necklace" It's due tomorrow. Please tell me what you think and what I should change.

Mathilde was walking down the Champs Élysées pushing her baby thinking about how her daughter could have the fancy life that she hadn't had. Five years ago, Mme. Forestier had given her a diamond necklace and she was saving it for her daughter. She was thinking about the time fifteen years ago when she had borrowed a necklace from her friend Mme. Forestier. She had lost the necklace and borrowed money to get a replacement necklace, without ever telling her friend. After ten years of living in misery, they had finally paid off the debt. Then she had found out that the necklace had been fake, but they had bought an expensive diamond replacement necklace. When Mme. Forestier found out what they had done, she had generously given them the necklace. After this experience Mathilde decided to start being honest.

Now she had her baby daughter to think about. She believed that her daughter was entitled to all the little niceties and luxuries of living. She encouraged her husband to continue working extra hours to get the additional money that would be needed for this. Even though her husband doesn't care about money or material items, he works extra to keep his wife happy. He doesn't believe that the luxuries are necessary for his daughter. He just wants his daughter to feel loved and happy. He wants her to know that love doesn't cost a thing.

As she got older, Mathilde wanted her daughter to go to all of the nicest schools and have rich friends. She wanted her daughter to experience the luxuries of life, that she had wanted and never had. Her daughter had different priorities than her mother. She just wanted to have fun and play with the other children. Her mother wanted her to marry a rich man so that she could always have everything that she desired. She never complained though, she just let her mother tell her what to do and she didn't know any other way of life. She was told that she had to have the best of everything and she would never become a pauper like her parents were while trying to pay off debts to loan sharks. She was told that when she got older she would have a very expensive diamond necklace that she should be extremely careful with.

Her father watched everything happen and he didn't want to say anything that might anger his wife so he kept his mouth shut. He wanted his daughter to have a normal life and not fulfil her mother's dreams. He knew his daughter wanted to sing and dance instead of knowing which side of the plate the napkin belonged on. His daughter didn't get to have a normal life like he had when he was younger. To him, being in high society didn't mean much of anything.

His daughter hated her school, and she didn't care about what they taught her. She wasn't happy and her father noticed that she wasn't happy and so he wanted her to switch schools but his wife would not tolerate it.

Many years later the daughter went to a fancy party that she was invited to and she had fun, but she was not having as much fun as some people were. She was wearing the necklace that her mother gave to her and met a nice man. Later she was married to a rich man, that she had met at the party. but was not as happy as she should be. She had many nice things, the things her mother always wanted. She got to go all the nice parties and hang out with all the rich people. Her mother was thrilled that she was married to a rich man.

The daughter had children of her own but she was never truly happy. She had lost much of her childhood and her husband always seemed to be at work. She promised herself that she would let her children make their own decisions and not push them in the direction of something that they don't really want. She had all the material items and money but she didn't have the life that she wanted.

When her father passed away her mother moved in with her and started to push her grandchildren in the direction that she had pushed her. Not long after her mother also passed away and she let her children go to a normal school and educate them so they could have whatever life that they desired.

If there's something wrong, he'd like offerings in corrections if any need to be done to the writing assignment..

What is sad, is that I remember reading The Necklace, if it's the one I'm thinkin about.
