| PC HELP: Which program works best with an .avi file? (more questions inside) | | This thread is not a FAQ thread. It's a ERQ. Errick's Recent Questions. LOL.
What program works best with an .avi file? My WinAmp won't work with this file I have, and Windows Media Player also doesn't work. Any suggestions? If there is a way to convert it to mpeg, someone please show me. Because I also want to put this file onto a CD-R. Just some questions, if you don't know, don't post. Thanks.
Thanks in advance guys (universal term ...heh),
Errick

| What BMB said should help you.. i can see avi's on my computer too.
And yes, you can convert it to MPEG with Virtual Dub but it takes hours.
There's also a small and simple program, it's called AVIpreview and it also lets you to preview files that aren't done yet, like from Mirc. It was too big to attach so give me your ICQ or email and i'll send it to you. it's kinda small actually. |

Google it, man... Google ). |

| As far as I know you can't convert an .avi to .mpg using VirtualDub, tmpgenc however should work just fine .
And yeah, most .avis are either divx(newest version is 5.04) or xvid, so get those codecs first...
