Harry Potter author JK Rowling is to appear in front of 4,000 schoolchildren at London's Royal Albert Hall for a one-off reading of her latest book.
She will read extracts from the fifth Potter adventure, The Order of the Phoenix, on 26 June - five days after the book reaches the shops.
Rowling will answer questions about her creation and chat on stage with Stephen Fry, narrator of the Potter audio books.
Tickets priced at £5 will be available to schoolchildren in the UK and Ireland though a ballot.
Teachers are being invited to apply for tickets for groups of up to 50 children and staff from their school.
'Fastest bestsellers'
To set the scene, the Albert Hall will be decorated to resemble Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the adventures.
The Order of the Phoenix has already become the one of the fastest bestsellers of all time in advance of its release.
Shops and internet booksellers have been taking orders since the date of release was announced.
The phenomenal success of Rowling's books has made her richer than the Queen, according to The Sunday Times Rich List.
The 37-year-old writer has more than quadrupled her personal fortune in the past two years to £280m - making her the wealthiest woman in showbusiness and Britain's 122nd richest person. |
