A 22-year-old student has been crowned China's first ever Miss Artificial Beauty at a pageant exclusively for women who have had plastic surgery.

Feng Qian received gifts worth 50,000 Yuan ($6,000) after beating 19 other finalists aged 17 to 62 in Beijing.

To prevent cheating, all contestants - who included one transsexual - had to provide a doctor's certificate to prove that they had indeed had surgery. China's fast-growing cosmetic surgery is now worth $2.4bn a year.

Ms Feng said she was proud of her glamorous, albeit artificial looks, achieved through botox injections and surgery to widen her eyes and remove fat from her cheeks and waist.

Good Lord! Now we are giving people awards for acting out their bad self-body image?? They should make a beauty pagent for NATURAL beauties, people who don't resort to liposution, breast implants, butt implants and botox to be beautiful.

Another thing, why the surgery to widen the eyes?? Shes Chinese and her eyes are slanted that way because thats her heritage. I personally think Asian women are drop dead beautiful,and should be proud of their eyes not going to plastic surgery to make themselves more "Western" looking or whatever. Its sad, because this is sending the message to young Asian women that there is something wrong with their eyes. Eh I got off on a tangent.

A lot of Asian women want that operation to widen their eyes because they want to look more Western. Sad I think.

They need to get rid of all contests based on who's the best looking. There are so many women who are very beautiful but, because they don't match the plastic mannequins used to sell thing, never realize it.

Asian people are not trying to be more "Western" by widening their eyes. This is a big misconception by a lot of people.

Double eyelids, or the wrinkle ontop of your eyes, are considered beautiful in many Asian countries. The main ideas of beauty in Eastern Asia is

1) Light skin
2) Large eyes and double eyelids

In Western countries like the US, the idea of Asian beauty involves slanted, small eyes and a sharp face with large cheekbones. It's quite the opposite in Asia.

Double eyelids are considered beautiful just because it's not something that every Asian person has. A lot do, but some don't.

When you get double eyelid surgery, it usually makes your eyes bigger because of the wrinkle that's created.

So don't say anything like "They wanna be more Western-looking" until you know the facts.

Plus, there are already tons of Asian people that naturally have large eyes and double eyelids. It's just that you don't see them everyday because of what the media portrays.

Here are just a few natural South Korean celebrities, just to show you what's considered beautiful in East Asian countries.
