Learning through someone you can interact with is more preferable. Provided that the person doesn't just teach you cuss words!

Tagalog is a good language to swear and cuss in, by the way.. It's crisp and quite satisfying.. Did I just say that...?

I used to get cussed out all the time, either in Japanese or tagalog...good thing I wasn't the only one, though.
