As to answer the Why? question, like someone else said, "Why not?" |

| Re: Let's Test Your Philosophical Skills... | | Quote: Originally posted by Swany Answer me this one, very simple, very generic question: Why? | Your mind asks "why" because you do not currently possess the knowledge to answer your question. Had you the knowledge, you would not have the question. Asking me "why" presumes that I do possess this knowledge of which you seek. This may be a false presumption. The present is because of the past. The past is because of the past before that, and so on. "Why" implies reason behind motives and processes either of nature or of the mind. The nature of that reason is the knowledge which one seeks when that individual asks the question of "why". Essentially, all is because something else was before. |

| Though some of you chose the humour route, Allie and GlamGurl obviously took the question seriously, (unless GlamGurl was being a smart ass), and answered with a question that resulted in 100% on a Philosophy final exam at the University of Calgary for one particular student, meanwhile, students who answered with 500-10 000 word essays couldn't scratch the 95% mark. Good job girls! |

| Awww I failed.
That's really cool though. It's so cool to see how everyone had thier own answer to a simple question. I think the answers says a lot about the person. Very cool Swany.

Bev | Yes. I believe that is the best question for a philosophy test. Those who are asked 'Why?' and answer 'Because.' have a one track mind, and are determined to find an answer to everything. Those who answer "Why not?" are very open minded, and are willing to accept possiblity.
Though, it may be a simple question, it's probably the most intellegent question one could ever ask. |
