My cousin works in publishing, I guess you should write down a draft of what you want to cover and send it to publishers?

If you wanna make a historical book you have to have some good resources. There is nothing you can change when it comes to history, so to make a book your own you have to have some kind of script that will make publishers interested. When you write a novel, it's all about your capibility to come up with a good story. History is already there and there are already tons of books that basicly write the same.

you mostly need a writing agent who then finds you a publisher. this is hard to do if you haven't already been published.

You can also pay for a publisher to print it and they will also help you market it. It's hard to just randomly publish something yourself because of getting ISBN numbers etc.

There are many books such as The Writers Handbook that are very useful in telling you how to write for publishing and how to get one. To be honest though I know more about novel publishing as that is what I am experienced in...
