I forgot what the function keys are used for. Can someone please tell me what F1-F12 keys are?

Also, does anyone know a way to password protect folders? You know, to prevent anyone else besides me an access to my stuff. My brother likes to snoop around my shit. Not cool. I have personal stuff there, but umm.. your life is like an open box in this family.
