I do the whole start save-as thing and then nothing getright related happens...it just downloads like it regularly would.

Not having used GetRight for ages (uses Download Accelerator
Pro instead - much better), I should think you need to right-
click the download link, and choose 'Download with GetRight'
or something like that in order to download it with GetRight.

Actually...getright integrates into IE and netscape so that it notices when you click on some file and automatically uses getright to download it. If you press shift while clicking on the link IE downloads it(or whatever browser you're using). When you install getright it asks you if you want it to pick up clicks from your browser, if you for some reason chose not to then obviously nothing happens(unless you manually enter the location into getright). Also, after installing getright you need to restart your browser.
