That's the person who wrote this "translation" of the Bible which seems more like a mockery of it than anything else

Any pinhead can go ahead and write a bible translation. But at the end of the day, it isn't worth shit to begin with.

I found the following quite amusing though:

Quote:
Matthew 26:69-70

Authorized version: "Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, 'Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.' But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest."

New: "Meanwhile Rocky was still sitting in the courtyard. A woman came up to him and said: 'Haven't I seen you with Jesus, the hero from Galilee?" Rocky shook his head and said: 'I don't know what the hell you're talking about!'"
That's modern society for ya!

...
I hope, by that, you mean that pinhead translations are not worth shit and not that the Bible itself is not worth shit.

It all has to do with this little ambiguity in English called the pronoun. "It" can refer to any other noun or pronoun in the same sentence or in any previous sentence or paragraph. I can't tell which you mean but I hope the former.

You got it right. I'll take a piece from a post I made a couple of months ago in another thread. What I generally think of the Bible:

Nice thread. First of all, I'd like to point out that the bible is not just a book. It hasn't been refered to as the Holy Bible for centuries for nothing, people. This is more than just a book. And may I add, there are a lot of great things mentioned in there. And sometimes I would just wish for people to pay attention to that more, and see..

And then I don't mean all the history tales, because that's mere literature for the ones interested. But if everyone would pay attention to the fine points of life that's described in there, and actually think about them for a change, then this world would become a much better place.

The bible contains a lot of wisdom. And too much of it is neglected, ignored and for what? For the same thing happening in this thread. Religion. Groups and cults form and make it their own. ...
I also think that as it has been passed on from human to human for so many centuries, that it has deviated from the original texts a bit. How much, and what, can't be determined. I figure that all the things that generally make sense are pretty head on.

Didn't you read the label? It's archbishop Rowan Williams, of course.

And uh, I think they've gone too far with that translation of the Bible. lmfao@Stinger's post.
