Sly Smile A few questions

Okay dont call me stupid but i really don't know!

Is there an age restriction on buying cd's with the parental advisory label on them?

Can u buy an R rated movie if your under age? Like i remember buying The Matrix years back but i wasnt sure of my dad was with me or not.

How old does someone have to be to accompany a minor to an R rated movie? I heard it was 21, but im not sure. Cant a 17 or 18 year old person do it?

I think for Parental Advisory AND R rated movies you must be 17 to buy them. I know they check with movies, not sure about music.

The movie thing...anyone can go see an R rated movie as long as they are accompanied by someone who is 18 or older. You have to be 17 to buy your own ticket and go by yourself. A 17 year old CANNOT buy a ticket for anyone but themself. So say you and 2 friends want to go see a movie rated R; ages are 16, 17, and 18. All is good because there is at least one 18 year old. Say the ages were 16, 16, and 17; that 17 year old can buy THIER ticket but no one elses.

I love how movie queen replied to you first.

<3 to Allie and her movie-theatre-working-experience.

That's a good rule, I'm glad they enforce it more than they do on the music. Here, where I've been for 3 years now, we only have Wal-Mart. And needless to say, they edit the rappers albums (which is good) but not the chic and famous it girl of the year that resents being called a "Hollaback Girl." (which is not good). Don't be prejudice, just 'cause you know there's cussing on the rappers LPs, you can't let a girl slip by and get to your kids ears. Just like the Evanescence CD (Anywhere But Home, or something like that), remember that article?

Where I used to live, I tried to sneak a PA CD by a cashier once and she said, "Where's your parent?"...I almost got smart with her, but then I just obeyed. Me and my obedience. Dangit. I'm sure the CD sucked anyways. So I think you must be 17, back in the day. I don't know how it is today with all the youth liking what's out on the radio (50 Cent, The Game...etc, other crap)

Movies here go the same way Allie said. Just a little side note.

Keeping a question inside is a stupid thing to do, asking it is not. There are stupid answers though, which is what you've just read by yours truly. Yo.

As far as I know, there is no age restriction on CD's with the Parental Advisory warning on them. I think they leave that one up to the parents to decide what they can and can't listen to. When I worked at Walmart, when we scanned the items through the till, it would say "Is Customer (Age) or older?" and we'd have to answer yes or no before the purchase could be made. But I never had that one with CD's. I'd imagine certain CD's, if bad enough, would have an age limit, but I don't think Wal-Mart would sell those, lol.

Parental Advisory Labels
In 1990, the U.S. recording industry introduced Parent Advisory labels to identify music containing explicit lyrics, including depictions of violence and sex.

For consumers, the system has its drawbacks. Companies and artists voluntarily label their products, so customers can't automatically assume that music without a label will be appropriate for all ages.

And the retail industry is also inconsistent in dealing with Parental Advisory labels. Some have policies forbidding the sale of labelled music to kids younger than 18. A few retail chains, such as K-Mart and Wal-Mart, will not carry stickered products. While others have no restrictions to stop children of any age from purchasing CDs with advisory labels.

Critics charge that although the music industry warns parents of inappropriate lyrics with labels, at the same time it's aggressively marketing explicit music to young people. In September 2000, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released a report showing how media industries, including the music industry, aggressively market media meant for adults to young children.

Of the 55 music recordings with explicit labels the FTC examined, all were targeted to children under 17. Marketing plans included placing advertising in media that would reach a majority or a substantial percentage of children under 17.

THOSE ASSHOLES!!! Anyone been to one of those stores that dont care. Plz let it be Best Buy, Circuit City, or Target.

Gwen says "Shit" and "ho" on her album...not really enough to warrant any editing if you ask me. I don't agree with CD's being edited beause it's the artists right to artistic freedom. However, as long as not all the CD's are edited and just ones sold by certain retail chains are edited, that's fine and dandy with me. Then people can choose wether they want the real version or the not-real version and everyone is happy.
