Default To download or not to download?

After i watched the Grammys and heard the plea by the speaker that music must only be downloaded from official sites, i just wanted to know whether you all will take any notice of him and start decreasing the amounts of mp3s you download and try only official sites.

If artist's and musician's were really in it for the music, and not the money, then they would understand why fans like to download mp3's and they would just appreciate the fact that fans want to hear their music. Most of them are so rich it won't matter if they never sell another record again!

But as far as downloading, i do download off of Morpheus, but usually just video's to make animations and such like that. I have to admit, i do occasionally burn cd's on my bf's computer, but right now there isn't a single mp3 in my computer (might be the fact that i got a brand new computer yesterday...) But really, i don't download that much, but even if i did, i think they should lighten up a little and let the fans have the music!!!

If it's there, I'm gonna download. You can't tempt me with something as good as free music, because I won't resist.

I download mp3s for several reasons:
1) i want to preview an album before i buy it and if i buy it, i like having the mp3s to play on my computer.
2)most of the songs i listen to are really hard to find
3) i refuse to buy a whole cd for one song
4) i like finding new music and artists

first he's preaching about "the music" then he's complaining about piracy, give me a break!!!

Limp Bizkit had a Napster sponsored tour, and their album sold over 1 million it's first week, ,in fact, since programs like napster showed up record sales have risen.

I have a theory that the reason why sales are down everywhere now, is because programs like Morpheus, Napster, and WinMX are being forced to shut down or are being shut down.

The huge spike in sales that Nsync had came after Napster was first introduced for a few months. Sales have fallen with NARAS's attempt to shut them down.

Courtney Love had an article posted somewhere about it, how it's just the big suits and music indry's way to grab ahold of their money while they still feel they have some control over who hear the music.

oh, and I find it laughable that Metallica and Dr. Dre were complaining about this, they've been around for years and have made millions, and they want more?

Yeah I don't have a problem with it and I think it's true in that it does increase sales (people discovering new artists, previewing cds).

It's no different to taping songs off the radio really (I can still remember doing that).

I'll still buy the album if I think it's worthwhile. Guess it's just up to the artists/companies to make good albums...
