I don't like my surname, it makes me sound too much like a politician. I guess it could be worse, though.

It means nothing to me to be honest. It's probably because I know very little of the family behind the name. Most of them were already dead before I was born, and the others I never had any connection with. To me the name is more like a tag or a number. Nothing of significance.

I'm with Stinger in that I don't know much about the history of the family behind the name. But I do like the way the name sounds, and I'm much happier with this name than my mother's maiden name.

I hate my last name. It's so boring and horrible to listen to. It means "teacher". How crap is that. It's funny because my great great great grandpa or something had our last name legally changed. Probably because of trying to move up in the caste system but I will never know.

I dont like my last name. It translates to "Jackson" in English, but its in my language. I think its too... hard to pronounce and Im going to change it into something that sounds plain. Maybe something with a -son in the end. =P

May I recommend changing it to "Jetson"?

Same here. There are so many gaps in my family history because it was never "recorded" before people passed away, so i'm not quite sure about my name either.

I'm quite satisfied with my surname.

I only wish Germans could learn to spell it properly. I bloody hate having my name misspelled, especially if it could be resolved with a simple copy-paste or just using one's eyes to read.

I don't really like it but there's not much I can do about it anyway. Well, marry a man and take his name is an option

I don't know much about the people behind it either. Only that it used to be a Polish name that later transformed into German. My grandfather died before I was born and I have no idea where his grave was or anything. I know nothing about that family. My dad doesnt talk about it.
