i happened to have my daughter at a very young age, and believe me.. she is the best "mistake" I have ever made. she is my life and i don't regret my actions one bit. also, I know a lot of great parents that are my age and have at least two children. teenagers are not as incapable of raising children as a lot of people seem to think.
i'm a yes and no on abortions. i don't believe in using it for birth control or to correct a mistake. i can understand a woman having an abortion due to rape (it was not her choice) or there being serious complications with the pregnancy. as for teens having an abortion because they think that's what's best for that baby, i don't think so. i say let them go through the pain of child birth and giving that child to someone who wants it. there are a lot of couples out there that cannot have children, one of my co-workers is one of them. not all adopted children are going to have a life of hell. i know a lot of people that were adopted, and that was the best thing ever for them. their parents couldn't give them what they deserved, so they did the responsible thing and have them to people who could.
and i think you should also realize that a lot of older women use abortions as birth control, not just teens. and i've heard that after so many abortions, it reduces a woman's chances of having children.
you can't predict what a person's life is going to be like. you don't know what's just around the corner or what will happen to make people do what they do.
and ktr, it is not just up to the woman. if the man wants that child and goes about it the right way to insure that child isn't aborted, than the woman has no choice but to give birth to that child. she can easily give up her parental rights.
and there are such things as condoms breaking, birth control pills failing etc. shit happens. you can think you're "protected" and still end up pregnant.
