...and just where exactly do you think the rights that you and I enjoy and that people have died for to protect come from? The Government? The President? Congress? HELLLLL NO. They are "natural rights", "God-given rights", etc. (known as other names too) and the Government is there simply to protect those rights. That's where they get "God" in our money and pledge, and "God" is used in the Declaration of Independence. I wonder why people aren't bitching about that.
It isn't the law to get up and say the pledge. JEEEEZHUS. Half the time after 9/11 when we said it in the mornings at my school I just stood there and stared. And
if they do force you, what the fuck's the difference...you say it, they aren't forcing you to believe in God.
The First Amendment: "Congress shall make no
law respecting
an establishment of religion..." This isn't a law, and it doesn't contain respect to
a establishment, it refers to all of them (God goes by different names of course) and so it isn't leaving any of them out. That's a bit of a stretch, but eh. Sorta like that faith based initiative thing.
The 1% of us that are atheist I think can handle this anyhow if they started to force us. It's more of an atheist/believer issue than an inter-religion issue.
The national anthem, on the other hand, would be an entirely different issue that I don't even wanna go into...
