Car: manual or automatic? - Eternal Allegiance

Do you prefer a car that shifts gears automatically, or would you rather have a manual gearbox? What's the reason for your choice?

I prefer a manual gearbox, because it just feels like you ARE the car. An automatic seems like you're just driving it. I've never driven around in an automatic myself though, so I don't know how accurate that assumption is, but it just seems that way when I'm in a bus. (all new busses are automatics here)

hmm..i drive both, and they're both special for different reasons..but I would have to say manual for what you have stated.

I voted for the first option. I drive in a car with that thing. Ive never drove in an automatic tho, but an automatic seems so automatic

you dont have to do anything for it.

Automatic cause manual is too complicated for me.

Ok it's not and I know how to drive both but I don't like to fuss with all that crap. I enjoy putting it in drive, forgetting about it and just going.

Automatic. I can't stand manual, the jerking is hella annoying and gives me a headache. I don't know how to drive manual but I've been in peoples cars that were manual - annoying.

I learned in an automatic. I've only ever driven a manual once, and it was my stepdad's 1965 corvette. We went to fill it up with gas, and it died at every stop sign. I don't if it was because it was an old car and had issues or because I have never done that before and I sucked. Scarred me for life though.

Automatic. I can't stand manuals. I tried driving my brother's Jetta once, and I hated it. I stalled at every stop sign because I couldn't get it into first gear, and it was just too much. I'd rather just drive without having to pay attention as to when I have to switch gears. It's hard enough paying attention to all the idiot drivers we have around here. I don't need any other distractions.
