10 -Strongly Disagree, because I've never had any such problems... but then again, that could make it sound like I have and havn't gotten past it. Hmm...
1 - Strongly Agree, would make me look like a drug/alcohol "addict" too...  | |

That's kind of a weird question, the way it's worded and everything. I think my first instinct, though, would be to answer "10 -Strongly Disagree" because I've never had a drug problem therefore never have had to get over a drug problem.

I don't see how you can answer that question the way they're asking you to without making it look as though you've had a drug or alcohol related problem in the past, or are still having one. There seems to be no answer for 'No, I've never had drug or alcohol related problems' (which applies to me).
My first thought when I read the question was to answer '10 - Strongly Disagree' .... but the way they've worded the question I feel I would only be answering the first part of the question. I would personally just write in my own answer. I would ring, or tick the box next to '10 - Strongly Disagree' and then add: I've never had any drug or alcohol related problems'.
A far better way of setting that question out would be to seperate the two parts of the question like this:
I've had problems with drugs and alcohol at previous jobs:
- Yes
- No
If answering yes do you feel that you are past that situation now:
10 -Strongly Disagree
9
8
7
6 - Slightly disagree
5 - Slightly agree
4
3
2
1 - Strongly Agree
Or it could be done the other way around. | |
