What happend to the 'M' of MTV? | | SOURCE: METRO
MTV is for a lot of music fans still the music channel. Although, the M starts to disappear.
If you watch MTV every evening of the week you will totally forget what the channel is about. Of course, there is still a place for the musicvideos, but it seems to get harder and harder to find some musicnotes.
MTV in 2004 is all based on the all American programs who just use music as their wallpaper. From the good and amusing (The Osbournes, Boiling Points) to the nice shows (Newlyweds, The Real World), to the horrible (Dismissed: how the most irritating plastic American teenager chooses between two other, even more irritating, teenagers)
"Pimp my ride!" also belongs to the last group. Ganstarapper Xzibit will, together with his team, transform old cars into "chickmagnets" and/or colourfull pimprides, including show off ghettoboys and blonde, sillicone lady's in small bikini's. This all will be shown with a lot of "ho-ing", "Bitching" and "Mothafucking". In short, one big hiphop video without good music.
The question is: When will the Musicchannel returns to look like the MTV we had in the mid 90's? When there where good shows (Ray Cokes) varied with loads of alternative music, Eurotrash and British humour. No more American "glitch" and "blingbling" and mindkilling TV.
Let the 'M' of MTV return and let it pump out of the TV speakers.
