As expected, country trumps rap this week, as Shania Twain’s eagerly awaited new album, Up! (Mercury Nashville) gallops onto the chart like so many stampeding prairie dogs.
That’s only if you’re listening to the country disc of Twain’s unprecedented two-disc country/pop album. Either way, however, that album appears to be headed for a first week of over 800k, with a shot at 900k before it’s all said and done, according to early reports from national accounts. And that’s a guaranteed #1, cowpoke.

Who cares if it outsells Britney? It's mostly because Britney has been on break for a while. So what?

yes! but buing a copy of shanaia's album is like you buy 2 copies if she sels 900k copies sheonly sold 450k copies of the album becausethealbumcontains 2 cd's that will count like 2 albums!

No, you 2 have it all wrong.

It only counts as 1 c.d.

Just like when Now 9, i believe, came out, it came with another c.d., and it only counted as one.

You're paying for 1 c.d. that comes with 2 disks.

IT counts as one because each c.d. has the same songs on it, just different music, If the whole pop album was full of different songs, then it would count as 2, but Since both c.d.'s have the same songs, it counts as 1

Well it's my understanding that it counts as 2 copies sold. And It's not cheating at all. The rules are stated very clearly. Garth's Double Live album had 2 CDs and every copy sold counted as 2.

EDIT: Here's the rules straight from www.billboard.com:

For boxed sets, and double albums with a running time that exceeds 100 minutes or more, the RIAA multiplies shipments by the number of discs and/or tapes.

Shania hasnt released an album in what a fucking decade. she has a lot fans. i bet that fucker is gonna sell a lot. the country music fanbase isnt exactly small trust me. and it isnt like its based on boots and britches cause i like country pop. so i would buy this album but it just doesnt do anything for me. or it hasnt really showed me that i should. in other words if Shania outsells Britney now who cares cause she is probably gonna outsell Britneys whole 5million copies of "Britney".
