Britney's Blind Date
Britney Spears has upped her efforts to find a new boyfriend - by going on a blind date.
The "Boys" singer, 21, went out with Steven Duke, a student at prestigious Yale University, late last month after a childhood pal of Duke, who dates one of the singer's dancers, played matchmaker.
The party of four met in New York's lower Manhattan, then piled into Britney's black Yukon and headed to Suite 16, where the songbird, who split from N'SYNChunk Justin Timberlake earlier this year, drank and partied.
They also went to a star-studded bash hosted by Stella McCartney, where they danced the night away alongside U2's Bono and model Christy Turlington.
A pal says, "Steve's just a regular guy, but he's also exceptional. Brit was impressed that Steve's a brainiac majoring in economics and is also captain of the baseball team.
"She didn't bring up Justin Timberlake, but mentioned how difficult it's been getting back into the dating game."
The source continues, "As the evening wound down, Steve was dying to make a move on Britney. So he asked for her phone number. To his surprise, she handed it right over."
Britney gave Steve a ride to Grand Central Station so that he could catch his last train back to Yale in New Haven, but not before he managed to give her a kiss on the cheek.
The source tells the Star, "A few days later, he called Brit, but he got her voicemail and, so far, no return call. It looks like it was a one-shot deal."
