BRITNEY SPEARS is in the news again. She's dating -- so "they" say -- Jared Leto, Cameron Diaz's former beau. Cameron is definitely dating Justin Timberlake, who, as we all know, waited patiently for Britney to pass from girl to woman. I love the idea that this is a "revenge" ploy on Britney's part. For one thing, Justin is so yesterday re Miss Spears -- first love ended sadly. Everybody grows up and moves on. I don't think Britney is the vengeful type. But she is press-savvy and has an album coming. This 22-year-old also has to fight the perception that she has peaked. It's best to plug a product when the press is hot for your personal life. Voila! Date your ex's current squeeze's ex. Always good for an Us Weekly cover.
Word on Britney's CD is it's "very club-friendly, with one killer single in particular, 'Breathe on Me.' " She cites Madonna as a role model for long-lasting stardom and loves young Hilary Duff, who is in the realm of competition. Asked by Popstar! magazine if she had advice for Hilary, Spears says: "I don't think she needs advice. She's doing pretty darned good. She is just completely a light to the world. So beautiful and so incredibly sweet. Her music is amazing ... she should just be herself and never change!"
An interesting read, I especially like what she had to say about Brit not being the vengeful type when discussing her split w/ Justin. Plus, new album news - a definite plus.
