Producer-turned-rapper Kanye West was highly disappointed when he met pop beauty Britney Spears - because her then-romance with Justin Timberlake blocked his chances of making a move on her.

The Jesus Walks rapper would have liked the chance to have made a play for Spears during their encounter, but the Toxic singer was then unavailable.

He says, "I was in the studio one time with her. It was with Justin so I couldn't make any moves."

And West admits his desire for Spears - who is now engaged to dancer Kevin Federline - has since fizzled.

He adds, "I think I'm cool now!"
