| Joel Madden Goes Solo? | | I haven't read the entire article, but from what I've read on various LJ communities, is that Joel Madden has mentioned the idea of doing a solo project, as is also indicated in the caption in the Teen People article (on stands now).
Here is one snippet from the article:
TP: Do you ever think about going solo? Professionaly, that is?
Joel: I don’t know, because Good Charlotte is so busy right now. As long as the band wants to make records, I’ll make records with them full speed ahead. I don’t have a Gwen Stefani type-thing planned, but I know that I’ll always make music.
---------------------------
Personally, though the idea of him leaving Good Charlotte terrifies me to all hell, I would be interested in hearing what he could come up with creatively without his other half. And I really wouldn't mind seeing a full music video without the other not-as-attractive twin.
But, all I'm saying is (put metaphorically) that he better return back to the group orgy when he's done masturbating. |

| Ew. I hate it when bands establish themselves as a whole, and then someone goes off for a "solo project".
Gwen Stefani is a prime example. I've been into No Doubt for like.. 8-9 years, and I was excited at first when she went solo, but she really dissapointed me with the material.
Besides, Blink 182 is an example of when solo projects go wrong. lol Look what happened with them.. if Good Charlotte were to break up over something like that, it would suck so hard.. |

Although Good Charlotte has one advantage over the lot of them... a blood relationship. And not only a blood relationship, a twin relationship.
I'm not expecting Joel to actually go Solo, but I believe if he played his cards right and didn't go commercial with the project, instead going with a soft release and just letting it appear in stores without much promotion, it might keep any ego at bay. Or, if he were to, say, release it as a limited edition bonus disc with the next Good Charlotte album.
But I've always imagined solo-Joel as just a "featuring" artist. (ie. Artist f/ Joel Madden) and for some reason, I see him doing a collaboration with Justin Timberlake. |

| I see it as a good thing, going solo, branching out on their own, Gwen is the perfect example of how good you can do worldwide on your own, No Doubt were okay, I know one or two songs but everyone knows Gwen now. |

I've been a fan of No Doubt since so early on, I LOVE all of their very beginning albums... And I was the same, excited about her solo project -- until i heard it, and i was so disappointed, i don't even listen to my old No Doubt stuff the same way any more |

So she may be huge in North America, and the UK, but thats it. It didnt get her worldwide success. You'd think, seeing as she's using the Japanese culture as a marketing tool, they'd know about it.
On a slightly related note, they asked who from North America they DID know of and listen to, and right away, they said "Britney Spears!!!" (<333) Quote: Originally posted by Swany Yeah I agree. It'd be cool if he did like what you said, added a limited edition disc with the next GC album, that I could handle.
Something tells me though that Benji would be involved, even if it was under an alias and no one really knew about it. |

| No Doubt were really only famous here for one song or maybe two I dunno. She has done amazing in the UK and Ireland, She has spent 28 weeks in the UK chart and that must be in the top 20, if not top 10. |

| I didn't like "What You Waiting For?" at all before, and same with "Rich Girl" and "Hollaback Girl", but they've all grown on me. Hollaback Girl still has some room to grow, but the others I enjoy now. |
