You make a lot of valid points. I completely forgot about the management shift which I guess does explain a lot.
I remember the days where I would visit the charts every week and Delta's album would be adding on platinum sales on a regular basis. I don't think MI achived an additonal platinum status after the first few weeks of sales. Album sales dropped off by more than half didnt they?
Even on the Visualise front, the tour throughout was a big struggle due to inredibly poor ticket sales. Somehow she pulled it off though and was able to fill the arenas even with ticket prices at a ridiculous $99. When I heard the ticket prices I was gobsmacked coz Delta has never toured properly before and for someone who has yet to prove themselves on stage to be charging superstar prices was a big shock. Thankfully though her tour was amazing and the cost and all of that was more than worth it so by taking a risk here in launching a pretty big production should ensure that people will continue to go see her future tours.
lol the point of me talking about visualise is the fact that to me everything delta has done with this album has been risky. I think MI has been somewhat of a testing ground for Delta. Im optimistic that she has learnt from her mistakes here and that she will find the right balance for her third album. The tour worked in her favour the album did not. It will be interesting to see the DVD sales next month as it should be a good indication of whether or not the general population is prepared to embrace Delta again. A good advertising campaign featuring songs from both IE and MI should do the trick as Delta during the tour was the Delta that we all learnt to love.
I really cant wait for the DVD
