Hey everyone....
I haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm having a bit of a tough time with the ways things are right now. I'm really glad Britney's taking a break - she really needs it. But I still miss her, and I miss her name on the charts, especially with Christina and Justin releasing new albums. Not to mention all this shit Justin seems to be saying about Britney, and all the attention it's getting from the media. Anyway, I wrote this new article for my website this weekend, called
Number One, Always and I'd like to share it with you all....
Quote:
Feels like the ride is over. They say pop is dead. Rap, and music with an “edge” are what’s hot. Names like Pink, Avril Lavigne, and Michelle Branch are atop the charts, along with the resurgent Christina Aguilera and now-soloist Justin Timberlake. It is a new age.
For four years Britney Spears dominated the pop world. Her success and fan-following are among the greatest in pop history, placing her with icons such as Michael Jackson and Madonna. And rightly so. Britney is a unique and sensational performer. Her voice is beautiful, whether or not her albums are digitized, whether or not she sings with a backup track, and whether or not she belts like a Whitney Houston, a Mariah Carey, a LeeAnn Rimes, or a Christina Aguilera. Those who have truly watched and listened to Britney know how talented she is, and know the beauty of her voice. What sets her apart from all other artists is her intangible ability to inspire truly wonderful feelings in her audience, through her singing and her presence. And that is something no critic can ever perceive. Only those who watch and listen to Britney with open hearts can be touched by her in that way.
