...then give some thought to the thread title first of all.
This is one thing I notice. There can be really good threads, but, because the thread title is non-descriptive of the general discussion topic, it is a dropped discussion.
Also, misleading thread titles are really annoying. Do that a lot, and I (personally) will not be likely to pay any attention to new threads of yours. I don't know about others, but it is annoying to me.
Anyhow, here are some examples.
Examples of bad thread titles.
"Come in here!!!" "new picture" "look at this" "Help, please" "Computer help" "URGENT!!!!"
Better thread titles for those might be "Funny website I found" "Picture of Britney in Mexico" "Look at these funny pictures" "Please help me with my signature." "Please help--too many popups." <no alternative for the final thread type, which is usually an unimportant and useless thread anyway (or so I find)>
Do you see WHY the second set are better titles? They actually describe WHAT the thread is about. They give the reader a one-sentence glimpse into the purposes of the thread.
I see this ENTIRELY too often, so, I thought I would help.
I hope this helps someone.
