| Britney Bounces Back With Award Win
Winner: Britney scooped Best Female Singer at the MTV Europe Music Awards
Pop star Britney Spears proved she hasn't lost her touch when she was crowned Best Female Singer at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
The singer beat competition from superstar Beyoncé at an awards ceremony watched by millions across the globe.
The gong, announced in Rome, comes after a rough year for the 22-year-old.
Her recent tour ended abruptly following a leg injury and she shocked fans by getting spontaneously hitched in Las Vegas and annulling the marriage hours afterwards.
Since her second marriage to Kevin Federline, pundits have said the pop star has lost her touch, but tonight's award showed that Britney is still a huge hit with her fans.
In recent months Britney has shunned the limelight, saying she wanted to focus on married life.
She beat Beyoncé, singer Avril Lavigne, American diva Anastacia and Alicia Keys to the Best Female award.
But the overall winners were OutKast - who walked away with Best Group, Best Video for Hey Ya and Best Song, for the same track - and R&B star Usher.
He grabbed Best Male, beating the likes of Robbie Williams, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, and Best Album over Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas and Dido.
But it was a miserable night for the clutch of British acts nominated for the 11th annual awards at the Tor Di Valle. Dido, Robbie Williams, Jamelia and Franz Ferdinand failed to win any awards despite their nominations

| The only award in VMAs voted by the fans is the Viewer's Choice award. I think it's actually unfair fans only get to vote for 1 when the MTV Movie Awards are voted on by fans so... |
