| [in retrospect]: the best choice for a single | | I think it's safe to say that Britney will never be as "big" as she was circa 1999-2001. I am thankful that I was a huge fan during that time because I remember it being an exciting one. I remember getting calendars from britneynow.com and writing down performances and watching them on TV and seeing how she would remix a song or add a new dance break or if she would actually sing live (*gasp*). I remember when britneyspears.org was a great website and how no one liked Ruben from WoB. I remember...
Aww the memories...
Anyways, looking back, what do you personally think would have been the best choice if Britney were to have released any song between any other single?
Use:
Song: [*B]Song[/b]
Between [*I]Single[/i] & [*I]Single[/i]
[*B]Reason:[/b]
For example:
Song: Before The Goodbye
Between Boys & Me Against The Music Reason: I picked Before The Goodbye because I remember Britney losing momentum at the end of the britney era. She didn't promote Overprotected or Boys and she got some bad press from the whole Mexico incident. I think it was clear that it was going to be a wait for her fourth album. I think BTG would have given a nice closure for the britney era instead of the "mysterious" exit out of the DWAD tour. Also the fact that she co-wrote the song would have given her some more public credit. The song is unique to Britney's catelog as we get to hear her voice on top of acoustic guitar (even if it's only for a bit). I love the song and could see it having great potential. It's catchy and different and would have been relative.

| Song: I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)
Between: Do Somethin' & Someday (I Will Understand) Reason: Aside from this being my favourite Britney song, I think it could have done well for her. It would've been a stronger single than "Do Somethin" to bring attention to her Greatest Hits compliation. I introduced this song to a handful of people, and if the chain reaction it caused was any indication, this song could have been phenomenal as a single.
After letting my sister listen to it, she passed it along to three of her friends who liked it so much they all passed it along even further. I don't know how far it got after that. It's now about seventeen months later and they still listen to it in the car and such. My brother - who would never admit to liking any pop music - even downloaded the song for himself. Then, I introduced it to the Social Code forum and had most of them going crazy over the song.
Just judging by that, I would say the song would've been mighty successful in terms of audience reaction.
Also, the title would've been a nice play-on-words. At the time, everyone thought the Greatest Hits was Britney's grande finale. Releasing a song called "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)" would've been a nice way to keep the nay-sayers at bay. |

| Use:
Song: Breathe On Me
Between Toxic & Everytime Reason: Definately. I loved that song and she promoted it so much and it was definately single material. But Daniel may know if some tests were done or something and it failed.
Other than that I've Just Begun would be another great single. |

| Song: Breathe On Me
Between: My Prerogative & Do Somethin
OR
Song: Breathe On Me Remix
Between: Someday & And Then We Kiss
Reason: This song had alot of potential, My Prerogative flopped badly, vocally it wasnt radio friendly, but Britney has to have everything her way, but yeah everybody that heard Breathe loved it the first listen, the bass line and vocals, the lyrics, everything about that song is hot, it should have been on the greatest hits and released as a single.
or the remix album, I had so much faith in Britneys intelligence to release Breathe, especailly when she used it in the Fantasy commercial, and for her to make a video right after Sean was born, the album would have sold alot more... especially if the video was HOT. |

| Song: Cinderella
Between Not a girl & I love rock n roll Reason:
I think the Britney era had too many songs. So I'd rather say replace a song then add one!
Anyway, I think Cinderella would have been a great song for a video. It's actually very catchy so could've done well in the charts. I chose it to be inbetween of NAG and ILRNR because I think it fits better then putting it between ILRNR and Boys or between Boys and Overprotected the remix. Cuz I think the first two singles (slave and overprotected (original)) are on their place. |

| YOU FORGOT TO MENTION BSN! Best damn Britney site ever and you don't mention it. lol
I agree with the Cinderella pick. Back in the day it was among my favourite songs on the Britney album. It's catchy, it's cool, it's... overlooked. |

| It was that remix that actually got me back into the song. |

| Song: When Your Eyes Say It
Between Boys & Im not a girl
Reason: I think this song is a really nice song that can show Britneys voice off a lot better, Its a song that to this day I still listen to and the lyrics do mean a lot to me. |
