MADONNA-BRITNEY KISS CONTROVERSY

A small front-page picture of
MADONNA and
BRITNEY SPEARS' open-mouthed lip-lock at last week's MTV Video Music Awards stirred up so much controversy in Atlanta that the editor of the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution issued an apology for printing it. The shot, no bigger than a postage stamp, elicited letters to the editor with such reactions as "it makes my stomach turn to see such trash" and "I am amazed at the light-hearted coverage given the Madonna-Britney-Christina kiss." The managing editor responded in Monday's edition, agreeing that he should have only used the photo inside the paper, not on the cover.
An excerpt from an article in today's
USA Today:
Klibanoff compared the Spears picture to graphic images from the war in Iraq.
'We ran images we otherwise might not have run. But that was war, and war was news. The photo we ran Friday was neither, and I wish I had limited its display to the inside of the Living section,' Klibanoff wrote in a response to letters on the opinions page.
This guy is sick! Comparing a photo of Britney to ones from the war in Iraq. I would rather see the photo of Brit and Madonna's kiss over graphic photos from Iraq on the cover of this and/or every other newspaper anyday!
