Hm... I don't want to start a fight with you NFS CORSA.... but the day an avi file will be better than an SVCD.... I'll be Britney Spears.
An avi file is about the same quality of an average vcd or commonly called mpeg file.
AN svcd or m2v file is twice bigger and very close to dvd.
I know that there are some compression soft for avi but I doubt the quality is that great.
Beleive me, a good SVCD video is the best you can find right now... only .vob files are better (as they come directly form dvds, it's logical).

My AVI Files are an Compression from the VOB in MPEG 4 and the Quality is Awsome in Fullscreen !!
The Avi File is 720 x 576 Like the Original DVD !! and the Quality is 98 % of the Original DVD !!
