Britney ponders TV producing gig
By JAM! TV
Britney Spears is close to signing a deal to executive produce an ABC Family original film based on her 2001 novel, says The Hollywood Reporter.
"A Mother's Gift," the semi-autobiographical novel the pop star wrote with her mother Lynne Spears, follows an aspiring teenage singer as she travels with her mother from her Southern home to an East Coast conservatory.
No cast has been announced, but the film is scheduled to begin a Toronto shoot early in January for an April airdate. Bobby Roth, of the recent "The Elizabeth Smart Story," will direct.
Other original films on ABC Family's slate are "Celeste in the City," a drama currently shooting in Toronto and "I Want to Marry Ryan Banks," starring Jason Priestly as a reality TV star searching for a wife. (More on Britney Spears)
