| This world has gone mad... | | I didn't know where to put this thread - since it's both a personal thread, but it is really also just a discussion on the daily events on the news worldwide.
It's a world gone mad. Right now, I don't know where to turn to or where to go... The tragedy in Asia has touched me extreamly and has caused the death of so many people. My "grandmother" is really sick, and I'll be surprised if she will recover again anytime soon... and last but not least - an old friend of mine was found dead at the harbour - only 18 years old. I'm so confused, I mean what kind of world are we living in? War and terror - death and sickness it's all over us and seems like it's taking over everything!
I can't even stand watching the news anymore, because they're all about death and bad stuff anyways... Like the news right now: Ofcouse the big news is the newest from Asia, but the other news were a 12 year old girl, that was raped, a 2 year old who died last night, after being hit by some fireworks. 2 people were stabbed (one to death - also last night) and so on and so on... it seems as the bad things just wont ever stop.
Where are we going right now? The world is coming together they say and everyone is sending money to Asia - well great - but are people forgetting that war is still going on in Iraq? They're still fighting - inocent people are still dying there every single day!
I can't stand it anymore... I wanna do something but i can't, I can send my money - yes, but when thats done I can only sit back and watch all of this madness... it makes me just wanna break down and cry....
These last weeks of 2004 has been so awfull, and right now it seems as we will never get a normal funtional world again.. either we destroy each other with war and terror - or the nature will do it by it self....
Sorry, if I seem so depressed, but I can't understand why the world is turning like this, and I can't do anything...
Thank you for reading - if you ever got this far... I just needed to get it of my chest....
Take care of one and another...

| Well I'm no help because I agree with you it won't get better and I'm glad that I won't be around in 100 years because I can't even imagine what kind of world it'll be, I'm already scared how it'll be in 50 years. It's very scary but I try not to think about it because it's just so scary. |

| I agree its horrible. You just need to realize there are SO many good things happening also, and just because it isn't on the news doesn't mean its happening, ya know? I know, tell that to those that suffer right?
Maybe I'm just an optomistic person. |

| The world is always going to have tragic things happening. In the "good old " days tragic horrible things happened as well. Millions were killed in the name of Christianity(oh thats present day too..). Blacks were hanged for wanting equality. People were thrown in lion dens for disagreeing with their rulers. Young girls were burnt at the stake for cows getting sick. So the world hasn't really changed much. Good old days? HAH! There WERE no good old days! Only thing now is that we have technology so we can know about every little bad thing that happens..where as back then they had nothing but word of mouth.
Try not to get stifled by all the bad things..there are still good people in this world, the news just won't tell you about it. |

| This week... 20 dead by a roadside car bombing.. 5 Iraqi Police get beheaded by Insurgents.. Makhmood Abass campaignes in Palistine saying that "Israel is the enemy"... lets face it... People will be people.. you can be very stupid or very smart about life. Im sure that Abass guy will be elected... I mean, anyone who hates Israel is praised as a 'freedom fighter'... I mean, are those people really that stubborn, that if they want peace, they elect some guy who is WILLING to cope with this idiotism non sense suicide bombers,ect... Im sure there will prolly never be peace in the Middle East, The war is gonna take atleast 20 years... and you know what... I dont like it either... I would change it if I could, but I cant.. time will take its place... we just have to watch.. I really understand what you're going through... I dont even wanna turn on News Channels, because the ACLU is shooting random anti-christian bullcrap out of their asses, Everyday, some dumb idiot promotes their crappy egos by not letting their country move ahead, and killing innocent soilders and citizens of their own race.. every year theres some crazy idiot who kills their wife, or brother or sister... ugh... im sick of it. |

The media will always show the murder or the mugging instead of a positive news story. They do it for the same reason people slow down to rubberneck at a car accident. So, don't become jaded by what you see on TV and read in the newspapers. The good news stories are out there ,but are seldom reported.
The world ,as Jess said, has always been a messed up place. There really is no sense to be made of it all. Just don't let it get to you. Maybe taking a break from watching the news on TV might help. |

And I just have to say that this thread title SO reminds me of Jay and Silent Bob where it goes "in this world gone mad, you won't spank the monkey the monkey will spank you!" |
