I have a fear of elevators, have for a while now. Our elevator at work in the campus library is glass, and you feel like you're gonna go through the roof at the 5th floor. But even worse, all our elevators, including the glass one, have been known to get stuck. If i were able to carry carts of 100's of books at a time up the stairs, i would NEVER take the elevator. I hate them

I think the glass ones are trying to help fears. Ie. claustrophobia. But it just totally adds the fear of heights to those who hate heights (ie. me )

Losing your head is nothing. How about getting your hair caught in a roller coaster car? I would rather be decapitated than scalped. Sounds like this guy was impaled too.

Man killed when hair catches on roller coaster car
LANGLEY, Washington (AP) -- An amusement park operator was killed Saturday when his hair got caught on a roller coaster car, pulling him up as high as 40 feet before he fell, back-first, onto a fence.

Doug McKay, 40, was spraying lubricant on the tracks of the Super Loop 2, a ride at the Island County Fair on Whidbey Island, when his long hair got caught on a car full of fairgoers, sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Smith said.

"It basically scalped him, and he fell and landed on the fence," Smith said.

McKay, co-owner of Paradise Amusements, based in Post Falls, Idaho, was pulled between 25 and 40 feet into the air.

Paradise Amusements had set up rides at the Island County Fair, located about 30 miles northwest of Seattle, for the past three years, Smith said.

Smith said grief counselors were on hand but that the fair continued after the incident.

The only elevator i've ever been afraid of was the one in the M&DA building at my college. The car was painted black inside with a bare lightbulb for light and to get it to run you had to pull the lattice type stuff closed and then pull the door closed. Needless to say, i never rode it alone. I don't think it ever got stuck though.
It's funny because the elevators at my old dorm were always getting stuck, yet i never thought twice about using them. Although i almost got stuck once lol.

I haven't either. But I don't think I've been to a place with an elevator either so umm...yeah.

I've been to places with elevators, but when they only go up two or three floors, I see no point. Stairs are usually faster. I'm going out on a limb to say this, but I dont think I've been on an elevator in almost a year and a half.
