Actually, any laws against suicide are pointless anyway. I mean, if somebody kills themself, what are you gonna do??? ...Arrest them????

I think it's selfish too. But, if you want to do that to your family, that's all you, I suppose.

I don't think suicide is right by any means. I wouldn't necessarily call it a selfish act either...maybe just an easy way out. I also think that people who commit suicide take life for granted. There are millions of people who are fighting for their lives this very minute. Struck down by poverty and disease and countless other tragedies. They would give almost anything to stay alive or keep a loved one alive and then there are people who are throwing their lives away.

It's true that not everybody's life is perfect...in fact, nobody's life is perfect...but I don't see why people can't just work towards making their life better than it is. Just like the quote in my signature says, "The more lost you are, the more you have to look forward to".

Anyway, my sympathy goes out to the family and friends of the girl.

Thats the thing.. its an easy way out...

I think most people that do it don't just do it because they have been depressed for a month or something. We are talking about people that have been depressed NONSTOP for YEARS and nothing works for them to feel better.

I think the main reason why depression is growing FAST in modern countries is because of the pressure from society to be PERFECT!

You are sopose to get a good education, find your soalmate, be FIT and still eat everything you want, look like a model, have expensive car/apartment... work/study all day but still find time to be popular and have 100+ friends AND ALSO have time for your family.

Some people are in their nature not as strong as other... so just normal things sociedy expects them to do breaks them down.. Often because of their childhood or something that has happened and made them insecure and weaker.

And also just horrible things that has happened to people like getting raped, attacked, some kind of accident or just anything that might affect you mentally forever.

no offence but like almost everybody know someone who tried it or did it...

Some people do it in the MOMENT... are often happy but just become so depressed for a moment it actually makes them HIGH and they don't know what they are doing (been there done that). When its something like that then YES its sad that it happened...

But there is an minority that really has been thinking about and really know what they are doing and why...

SO like I said it depends why they are doing it and if they knew what they were doing or not.

I agree with Geiri. Suicide is not selfish. Also people don't know what goes on inside people's heads and how they feel. So they shouldn't just jump to conclusions unless they've been there themselves. I have tried to commit suicide two or three times in my life myself. I had a horrible past. I've mostly got over things because things are finally starting to go my way, but every so often those feelings and habits resurface when things start to get rough.
