I'm seriously freaking out right now.

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. - A major earthquake struck Tuesday night about 80 miles off the coast of northern California, prompting a tsunami warning along the Pacific coast.

The 7.0-magnitude quake struck at about 7:50 p.m. southwest of the coastal community of Crescent City, according to the
U.S. Geological Survey Web site.

A tsunami warning was in effect from the California-Mexico border north to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Residents were being evacuated from low-lying areas of Crescent City, KCBS radio reported.

Crescent City was the site of the only known tsunami to kill people in the continental United States. Eleven people died and 29 city blocks were washed away when a tsunami hit Crescent City in 1964.

Witnesses felt buildings shaking along the California coast but there were no immediate reports of damage.

They won't get one. Experts said it was too small of a quake to create a Tsunami, but you can never be too sure so they issued the warning anyway, even though there is not much of a threat.

Its been called off, or so they say. Every station has different stories. I've calmed down a bit now, but gawd thinking of what happened in Dec scared the crap out of me.

This one station has this beeping thing, so each time I hear it I jump. "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP' then the warning rolls in.

EDIT - Its been canceled, sure got me pissing my panties.

I remember when we had the hurricane over here in England. Nearly blew the country into space! Always beware of the Weather Warnings.

Yeah, very scary. My sister lives in Laguna Beach and they told her to evacuate an hour before this Tsunami was supposed to hit. That's insane but she was freaking out.
